GLENDALE, AZ (SMI-GLOBAL-SPORTS-COPA-AMERICA USA 2024-JUNE 20-JULY 14, 2024)-FIFA World#12, Colombia triumphs over Panama 5-0, in quarterfinal match with 3-goals in the first half & 2 in the second as "Los Cafeteros " advance to semifinals rounds for the 3rd-time of the last 4, and 8-time overall in the history of the tournament at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, USA.

With the victory, Colombia advance to the semifinal rounds to face Uruguay while extending its unbeaten streak to 27-games (21-wins and 6-draws), since February 1, 2022, when they loss 1-0, against Argentina in the Conmebol Qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

The Colombian team played a well synchronized game from start to finish controlling the midfield and keeping the pressure with continuous offensive attacks, displaying its superiority on the field for the entire game and once again with the leadership of James Rodriguez who not only assisted on the goals but scored with penalty shot that resulted in a rout of 5-0, over Panama.
 


"Los Cafeteros " on its 2nd counter-attack through the right-side field, striker James Rodriguez centered a corner kick inside the 6-yard box finding forward 
Jhon Cordoba who score with a header to put Colombia 1-0, in front at 8' mark.

Four minutes later, in another counter-attack through the left-side field corner, Luis Diaz passed the ball to midfielder Jhon Arias who during a breakaway inside the 18', was brought down by goalkeeper Orlando Mosquera for a penalty call by the referee.

James Rodriguez executed the penalty kick scoring his 3rd goal of his career in Copa America tournament to increase the lead of 2-0, for Colombia over Panama at 15' mark.

Panama answered back with a counter-attack on its own that barely missed the back of the net, when defender Michael Murillo from a free kick through the left-side field centered the ball inside the penalty box finding defender Roderick Miller who headed it bouncing 0ff the right-goalpost back onside the pitch at 18':34 mark. 

With five-minute remaining in the half,  James Rodriguez on a free kick passed a long pass from the back field to Luis Diaz who beat two defenders on the run and chip shot a right-footed over the head of goalkeeper Orlando Mosquera to make it 3-0, Colombia at the half.

Los Cafeteros picked-up where they left-off in the second half and added two more goals late in game through Richard Rios who score with a canon from 25-yards away to the left-side goalpost for 4-0, and Miguel Borja added another goal 90+4, in stoppage-time to closed-out the 5-0, victory for Colombia over Panama.

Colombia advance to semifinals to face Uruguay next Wednesday July 10, at Bank America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina.
