HARRISON, NJ(SMI-GLOBAL-SPORTS-APRIL 27-28, 2024)-Lewis Morgan scores his 7th goal of the season in the 2nd half for the equalizer as the NYReBulls draw 1-1, against the Vancouver WhiteCups to remain unbeaten in the last six game at RedBulls Arena, Harrison, NJ.
With the draw, NYReBulls improve to 4-5-1, 17-points and take 3rd place in the Eastern Conference standings while the Whitecaps improve 5-2-2, with 17-points and 3rd place as well but in the Western conference standings of the MLS.
The RedBulls kick-off the game with three consecutive counter-attacks in the first 13' of play but Vancouver's goalkeeper Yahei Takaoka made three spectacular saves to keep the game scoreless.
Lewis Morgan in the first offensive-attack kicked two separate shots from inside the penalty box in the 1' minute of play but the ball bounced-off Takaoka's leg and arms to neglect New York opening the score. And midfielder Emil Forsberg in the third counter-attack through the left-side field shot a right-footed from inside the 18' but once again it bounced-off Takaoka's gloves to
registered his third save of the game.
Vancouver opened the score on their first serious counter-attack through forward Brian White to make it 1-0, WhiteCups over NYRedBulls at 15' mark.
In an offensive attack through the right-side field corner and from inside the penalty box, midfielder Ryan Raposo crossed a rolling ball finding Brian White who scored with a back-heal, his 5th goal of the season becoming the all-time scorer for the Whitecaps all across competition after registering his 44th goal with the team.
Lewis Morgan found the equalizer at 55' mark of the second half to tie the game 1-1, sending the crowd in euphoria. Emil Forsberg centered the ball inside the 6-yard box through a corner-kick and the ball bounced-off Vancouver's goalkeeper Yohei Takaoka stretch arm finding Morgan who scored with a diving header to tie the game 1-1, for his 7th goal of the season with the NYRedBulls.
New York out-performed the Whitecups in the game stats with 9-4, shots on target, possession 59% over 41%, and pass accuracy 86% over 80% in the game.
Next game for the NYRedBulls will travel to Miami to face Inter-Miami & Messi next Saturday May 04, at Chase Stadiun, in Fort Lauderdale, FL.
