QUEENS, NY (SMI-SPORTS-APRIL 15-16, 2023)-NYCFC Keaton Parks and Maxime Chanot(France) scored two goals within 14' of the first half as the Boys in Blue defeated Nashville SC 2-1, snapping a 3-winless game during a Saturday evening match at Citi Field, Flushing New York.
With the win, the Citizens improves to 3-2-3 with 12 points while Nashville finished with a 3-3-2, overall record with NYCFC even the season series 1-1, after losing 2-0, in the season opener in Nashville Tennessee.
The Boys-in-Blue who had only registered two goals in the last 3-games went to the attack from the start and found the back of the net twice during the first 25' minute of the first half.
In a counter-attack from the right-side field, defender Mitja Ilenic centered a perfect long pass inside the box finding midfielder Keaton Parks who headed it in back of the net for his first goal of the season and put NYCFC in front 1-0, over Nashville SC at 10:17' mark of the first half.
Nashville fought back with two offensive attacks on their own but without any major danger as New York's goalie Luis Barraza controlled the scenario.
In another counter-attack through the right-side field corner that ended in a corner kick, Richard ledezma kicked a centered pass inside the box finding Maxime Chanot who scored with a volley kick to put the Citizens ahead 2-0, at
24' minute of the half.
Both teams locked-out defensively most of the second half until Hany Mukhtar
discounted for Nashville to make it 2-1, at the 81' minute with the game clock winding down. In a counter-attack through the left-side field, defender Daniel Lovitz crossed the ball inside the 18' to the 2022 MLS MPV Mukhtar who immediately shot a hard low shot to the left-side goal post ending in back of the net and cut the deficit to 2-1, with 9' minute left in the game.
The Boys-in-Blue managed to hold-off the Nashville's offensive attack the rest of remaining 9'minute of the game to secure the final victory of 2-1, over Nashville SC.
