BRONX, NYC (SMI-GLOBAL-LATIN-SPORTS 03.09-03.11.24)-NYCFC could not hold a 1-0, lead late in the second half as Portland Timbers scored two-goals down the stretch to overcome the Boys in Blue 2-1, in stoppage time on a rainy Saturday's afternoon game at the legendary Yankees Stadium, in the Bronx NYC.

With the loss, NYCFC is 0-3, and registered its first ever season home opener loss in franchise history.

The Boys in Blue went to offensive from the start with Santiago Rodriguez opening the score
at the 09' minute mark to put New York 1-0, his first goal of the season sending the fans wild at Yankee Stadium.  The goal was originated through a corner kick landing inside the box  and through couple deflections inside the 18, Rodriguez found the ball and scored with a right-footed on a deflection off Portland's defender Paredes to the opposite goal post for the 1-0, in favor of NYCFC.  

Both teams used counter-attacks the rest of the game without any major danger on either goal till the 84' minute when the Timbers found the equalizer through winger Anthony Santos(Brazil) to tie the game 1-1. A counter-attack through the rise-side corner, full back Juan Mosquera(Colombia) ran inside the box and crossed the ball to Anthony who shot a hard canon to event the game 1-1, with 6-minute remaining in the game.

With the official game clock winding down and the 4th official adding 7-' minutes in extra time, Portland's attack midfielder Evander ( Brazil ) scored the second goal for the Timbers at 90+7 in stoppage time with a looping shot out of the reach NYCFC's goalkeeper Matt Freese to seal a stunning victory of 2-1, over the Boys in Blue.
