           Honors Two Giants in the Entertaiment Industry !

NEW YORK (SMI-WIRE,06.01.15)The Fred & Adele Astaire Awards foundation held it's
33rd Annual Awards gala event today, honoring two giants in the entertainment industry; broadway legend; Joel Grey and theater/film producer; Harvey Weinstein with numerous media organizations covering the red carpet @ the Skirball Center for the performing Arts in New York City.The gala event was hosted by two-time Drama Award nominated actress Christina Bianco and attended by most VIP's from the  Broadway & Film communities.The Fred & Adele Astaire Awards were established in 1982 to recognize oustanding achievement in dance on Broadway and Film industry.The Fred & Adele Awards remain the gold standard for excellence in dance and choreography on Broadway & Film.
Since 1982, additional awards have been added, including the award for the best choreography in film, the lifetime achievement award, and a unique award determined annually for exceptional contribution to the field.

2015 Lifetime Achievement Award Recipient-Joel Grey
 
Joel Grey has created indelible stage roles each decade since 1950's.
He made his Broadway debut as a replacementin Neil Simon's first comedy hit, Come Blow Your Horn(1961).Since then, his Broadway credits include the Stop the World I want to Get Off, Half a Sixpence, Cabaret (Tony Award), George M! (Tony Nomination), Chicago (Drama Desk Award), Wicked and the most recently, Roundabout Theatre Company's Tony Award-winning revival of Anything Goes.Joel's dramatic stage roles include Marco Polo Sings a Solo, Chekhov's Platonov, the Roundabout Theatre production of Give Me Your Answer, Do! (Drama & Desk nominations), New York City Opera's Silverlake(directed by Hal Prince) & Larry Kramer's seminal The Normal Heart at the Public Theatre, which he also co-directed with George C. Wolfe in its Broadway premiere (Drama Desk Award,Tony nomination).Joel received the Academy Award, The Golden Globe and the British Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his perfomance in the 1972 film version of Cabaret (directed by Bob Fosse).He is one of only nine actors to have wone both the Tony and Academy Award fro the same role.Other film credits include Man on A Swing.Robert Altman's Buffalo Bill and the Indians.the Seven Percent Solution, Remo Williams:The Adventure Begins, Steven Soderbergh's Kafka, Altman's The Player, the Music of Chance, Michael Ritchie's adaptation of The FAnstasticks. Harvey Weinstein launched The Weinstein Company, a multi-media copany, with his brother Bob on 2005.Since 2005, TWC, & Dimension Films have released such films as Vicky Christina Barcelona; The Reader; Inglourious Basterds; Scre4m; Spy Kids: The Iron Lady; Undefeated; The King's Speech; The Artist; The Master; Silver Linings
Playbook; Django Unchained; Scary Movie 5; Lee Daniels' The Butler;
Philomena; Begin Again; St. Vincent; The Imitation Game, Big Eyes
and Paddington.Harvey Weinstein founded Miramax Films with his brother Bob under naming it after their parents, Miriam & Max.Under Harvey & & Bob's leadership, Miramax Films released some of the most critically acclaimed & commercially successful independent feature films, including 16 Best  Picture nominations over the span of 16 years: The Aviator, Finding Neverland, Chicago, Gangs Of New York, In The Bedroom, Chocolat, The Cider House Rules, Shakespeare In Love, Life Is Beautiful (La Vita E'Bella), Good Will Hunting, The English Patient, Il Postino (The Postman), Pulp Fiction, The Piano The Crying Game, And My Left FGoot, AS Well As A Best Picture Nomination For The Hours, which was a co-production.
